Sonido Invisible consists of a two-channel audio-visual installation created in collaboration with the communities who collect and recycle metal in Barcelona, communities which are denied their human rights to work and housing upon arrival in Europe and many of whom hail from the African diaspora.
This piece is only a snapshot of the friendship and creative collaboration between Jokkoo, cantdefine.me and the three young people they met living and working in the streets of Barcelona. The aim was, and still is, to share space, time and imaginaries, finding the links between the daily search for value in the refuse of the city, with the creative process of sonic recycling, sharing ways of moving through, perceiving and transforming the raw materials of our urban environment.
